Summertime, and politics ain’t easy
It must be the frequent change in the weather that makes it difficult to keep a steady flight at cruising level. Huge air pockets are aplenty. The is bumpy and often incredibly dangerous. One of two wings is about to snap into debris.
How the political trade horses wish they could instantly kill the summer ghost of recent past that has crept up behind them. How they wish they had never uttered words that now haunt them, mercilessly. Each step forward is a huge leap backward as the summer ghost strengthens its presence in full public view.
On the flip side, the crowd quizzes if it is right to lay their future on the laps of one who may be a step away from a crown jewel solely the preserve of the fully-rounded.
Most are doubtful and aren’t willing to surrender what they’d regret later.
Understandably, some are willing to brave it all, loyal next of kin.
But there’s an air of fear in the restless crowd sitting in the Marianas political theater. How the political trade horses–now on stage groping for words–wish they won’t hear disgruntled spectators. It’s an eerie feeling that is often riddled with dead silence and discontentment. It isn’t a good omen of things to come in the near or long term.
At one point all the misgivings may be attributable to El Niño, then came La Niña. Well, the last scapegoat may be La Mañana. The political trade horses know in their conscience that something’s gone afoul and equally wary that “…you can’t fool all the people all of the time”.
Despite the uneven and treacherous political terrain, it’s now all show if only to blindly save face in a once familiar playground turned strange turf. Between the PK and BB teams, the proven horse is the former. Mr. B once picked Mr. K as a partner, but failed in the final stretch to yank it from a political giant. This time he picked Mr. B, a lesser candidate and there’s widespread belief he’d repeat history. It must be the most elusive of career goals, yeah?
Well, El Niño is gone. La Niña is making its exit. La Manaña has gained strength. And it doesn’t take a missile genius to determine why all the misfire. Well, it’s one helluva summertime, and the politics ain’t easy!

The people of Tinian have succeeded in the establishment of a gaming industry albeit the odds that they had to transcend. It’s a sterling example of a proactive people uniting behind a cause to enhance and enrich the livelihood of posterity.
Perhaps, it’s just as appropriate that all others (alleged leaders from Saipan) take a fact finding mission to tiny Tinian to learn the very essence of proactive leadership.
They have successfully transcended provincialism in favor of embracing WHAT WORKS!
Yes, it is leadership at its best and it would do the boastful big mouths from Saipan a whale of good if they humbly buckle down to learn real leadership far removed from the usual dish of posturing and grandstanding, di ba?

A bill board declares “Grand Open”. I wondered aloud where the ING went when my niece quietly reminded me: “Uncle John, the local Mom and Pop stores always skip the ED in their CLOSED signs. A lesson in humility perhaps?
