NMASA ATHLETES OF THE MONTH

Ed Arriola –– known as “Speedy Gonzales”, stands at 5’6″, shooting-guard, a 10th grader student of Marianas High School, was voted NMASA Student Athlete of the Month for July for his remarkable performances in the concluded 22 and Under Basketball League.

Mr. Arriola was the leading scorer for the Kagman Cougars and helped his team to the playoff. He was the 2nd leading scorer overall in the league, averaging 23.8 points per game.

Mr. Arriola made a name in the history book of BANMI during the league as the first ever regular season Most Valuable Player (MVP).

According to Mr. Arriola, he was delighted and honored with news and extend his thanks to BANMI and NMASA for such prestigious recognition. He thanked his teammate and coach Raymond Lizama for their support throughout the season.

Dave M. Sablan –– known as “Mortal Man”, stands at 5’9″, forward of the San Antonio Sixers, was voted NMASA Male Athlete of the Month for July for his remarkable performance in the concluded 22 and Under Basketball League.

Mr. Sablan was a member Saipan All-Stars team of the 1995 and 1996 Mariana Invitation Basketball Tournaments, managed to help the San Antonio Sixers capture the 1st 22 Years and Under championship title.

The San Antonio Sixers went undefeated during the playoff. Mr. Sablan was also the league’s top scorer averaging 27.9 points a game.
