The municipality of Tinian was granted a 2.5-hectare of public land in Pueto area by the Board of Public Lands to be used as fair grounds.

In a press release issued yesterday, DPL said the decision was reached during a meeting Friday.

The municipality has appropriated funds through Local Ordinance 7-4 to develop the fair grounds, locally known as “Park 2000”, which include an outdoor stadium, restroom facilities, parking and landscaping. There are plans to relocate the farmers market to this park.

In the same meeting, the long anticipated Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the administration and DPL that would essentially give the Division authority to manage the leaseback lands, was approved by the Board. The MOA now goes to the administration for its approval. The leaseback lands are within the U.S. military area.
