NMC SBDC hires new small business consultant
As part of its continual effort to serve the business community of Saipan, the Northern Marianas College (NMC) Small Business Development Center (SBDC) recently hired Larrisa L. Savares as the newest member to its team of small business development consultants. Ms. Savares will be providing business consulting services to new and existing businesses in the CNMI. Her responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the development of business plans, business venture feasibility studies, market studies, and financial projections.
Existing local businesses can seek free assistance in developing strategies to increase profits and improve operational efficiency, while individuals interested in starting a business can get help with determining the feasibility of their ideas and identifying potential financing alternatives. “I really look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with local entrepreneurs in an effort to help them fulfill their dreams of owning their own small business,” says Ms. Savares.
NMC SBDC acting director, Eric Plinske, comments, “Larrisa is a valuable addition to our small business development team, and the fact that she is from Saipan really enhances our ability to serve the needs of the local small business community.”
Ms. Savares is a returning resident of Saipan, having been away for more than 10 years. During her time away from home, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with a minor in Political Science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1994. She went on to earn her Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Hawaii in 1997.
Ms. Savares brings with her a wealth of experience, having served for four years as the assistant to a financial advisor at American Express in Honolulu and three years as a supervisor for Crazy Shirts, Inc. in Guam. She is the daughter of Lawrence and Ana Larson of Capitol Hill. She is married to Mark Savares and has one child, Mark Joseph.
