Kiribati VP mourned

Tarawa (Radio Kiribati/PINA Nius Online) – The funeral service for Kiribati Vice President and Minister for Home Affairs and Rural Development Tewareka Tentoa was held yesterday.

Those attending included President Teburoro Tito and his wife, Keina Tito, cabinet ministers, members of parliament, Australian and New Zealand High Commissioners, the Chinese ambassador, and government and church officials.

The Vice President had collapsed and died while addressing parliament.

Before becoming a politician from his home island of Onotoa in 1982, Tewareka, 58, was a teacher. He graduated from the University of the South Pacific in 1980.
