The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) is in the process of developing a Registry of Interpreters for individuals who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. OVR invites interested individuals, including NMC students, with intermediate and advance signing and interpreting skills to register with OVR.

“The Registry will be very useful not only for OVR but also for interpreter referral services. We urged interested individuals who are interested to work on an “as needed” or part-time basis to register with our office,” said Tee Abraham, OVR director.

“This past year, we saw an increase in the number of requests for interpreter services. And because we experienced difficulties locating individuals with this special skill, we have asked the assistance of Guam DVR. We have received names and resumes of individuals who are available and interested to come to Saipan should we need their services. There continues to be a shortage of signers and interpreters on island,” explained Ms. Abraham.

Interested individuals should call OVR at 664-6537 or 6538 or personally visit the office and leave a copy of their resume or complete a registration form.
