Xenavee Pangelinan, now swimming for Occoquan Swim Club (OCCS) in Virginia, and her teammate Brett Maclennan combined for five new records and 11 top finishes to help lead their team at the recent Speedo Senior Circuit Swim Meet at the Fort Eustis Aquatic Center, Fort Eustic, Newport News, Virginia.

According to an OCCS press release, the 17-year-old Pangelinan established new marks in the 100 yds Butterfly with a time of 57.54, and with a time of 2:11.2 in the 200 yds Individual Medley, breaking each old standard by .38 seconds en route to overall first place finishes.

She also set a new team record in the 200 yds Butterfly with a second place finish of 2:06.82. Pangelinan added another 1st place in the 400 yds Individual Medley with a time of 4:37.14, and again took second in the 500 yds Free in 5:14.98, and eight in her final swim, the grueling 1650 yds Freestyle in 18:38.61.

Pangelinan was the meet’s overall high point winner for all athletes, according to the press release. She was coached by Jean and Bill Sakovich, Bob Winkfield of the Saipan Swim Club before she left for Virginia last summer. She now resides with her cousin Vaughn and Remy Pangelinan in Stafford Virginia, where she is a senior at Colonial Forge High School, and a member of the now top ranked Colonial Forge Eagles.

Teammate Akemi Parker, along with Pangelinan, will give the Eagles a chance to topple Stafford HS in the district meet, last year’s title holder, according to Colonial Forge coaches.

Pangelinan is the daughter of Vic and Ricia Pangelinan of San Vicente, Saipan.
