The Women’s Affairs Office, in partnership with the Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture, will be holding a logo and poster contest as part of the celebration and educational activities slated for this year’s honoring of CNMI Women’s History Month.

WAO is seeking designs for an official agency logo. The logo will be used on stationery, letterhead, signage and official correspondence and materials of the office.

The competition is open to student and professional artists. Logo designs must not exceed 3 colors, must incorporate the official CNMI logo in some fashion and must include the text “Women’s Affairs Office” or “WAO” in some fashion.

WAO seeks a logo reflecting the many faces of today’s woman, her importance to the family, professional life and bearer of values, among other aspects.

Deadline for the submission of logo designs is on March 9, 2001, at 4:30pm. The submissions may be delivered to the Arts Council office, located next to the Capitol Hill Post Office or the Women’s Affairs office, located at the JTV building in As Lito.

The selected logo will be announced at the closing ceremony of CNMI Women’s History month on March 30, 2001 at the CNMI Gallery for Arts and Culture.

The winner of the logo contest will receive a plaque, copies of the printed logo design and $150 cash prize. In addition, five honorable mention certificates will be awarded.

A poster design is also being sought for the “CNMI Women’s History Month”. Draft designs (refined with color) should be submitted to the Arts Council or Women’s Affairs offices no later than 4:30pm on Feb. 2, 2001.

The poster must not exceed five colors (spot colors), must include ample space for the schedule of events text (to be placed later), must include the text “CNMI Women’s History Month” and dates of “March 1-31, 2001.”

A selection of the draft designs will be made by Feb. 5, 2001. The artist will then be required to complete the finished design by Feb. 9. The selected design artist will be awarded $200 for the poster design, a certificate and a copy of the final printed poster.
