Car accident hurts baby
An automobile collision at the Koblerville main road Sunday night injured two passengers including a baby in what police found to be caused by a reckless driver.
Department of Public Safety spokesperson Cecil Celes reported that Christina Blas, a 25-year-old Chamorro female with a child on board, was driving westbound when another vehicle, attempted to go past her car from out of the intersection despite the stop sign.
The other automobile was being driven by a Chinese male, Lin Xin Yang, who police later on found to be intoxicated with alcohol.
As a result, Ms. Blas struck Mr. Yang’s vehicle which sustained moderate damages to its right side. Her own vehicle also suffered moderate frontal damages on the same side.
When police tried to arrest Mr. Yang for charges of reckless driving, the suspect resisted by pulling his arms away from the officers. Authorities had to spray him with pepper maze.
Mr. Yang’s passenger also reportedly sustained hand injuries.
Ms. Blas’ seven-month old infant was transported by medics to the hospital. Examination results revealed that the baby suffered a concussion on his forehead.
