Underground power system installed today

With the newly installed switch box that controls the American Memorial Park’s electrical system, the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation will complete its project by reconnecting the control panel to its main underground electrical distribution system.

Such a hazardous task requires a temporary outage because the line crew men cannot touch the live wires as they rearrange the circuit connections in the Garapan area.

The power will go off at 8:00am Friday morning and will be turned on just as soon as crews are out of danger, no later than 9:00am. The areas affected by the outage include Hyatt, Dai Ichi, and Victoria Hotels, as well as the American Memorial Amphitheater and other commercial and residential areas in Garapan.
