Residents of a Dandan home that burned to the ground Tuesday night are convinced an arson is responsible for the demise of their one-storey tin structure.

Department of Public Safety spokesperson Cecil Celes said yesterday police received a call requesting assistance on a house that was reportedly engulfed in fire at the Dandan village.

According to Ms. Celes, when police and fire personnel arrived at the scene, the structure was already immersed in flames.

When occupants were interviewed, they disclosed that the house fire was intentionally plotted, citing possible sabotage.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau is exploring the authenticity of the theory suggested by victims.

The American Red Cross was tapped to assist fire victims.

Meanwhile, recent developments on the case showed that police brought to CIB for questioning yesterday a Chinese male in connection with the structure fire incident the previous day.

Suspect Dong Yangma was reportedly caught in a fist fight with one of the burnt house’s residents in front of Uncle Sam’s Supermarket in Koblerville.

Police apprehended the suspect when a female caller tipped the authorities about his whereabouts.

Mr. Yangma was found lying on the pavement highway by the store with blood oozing from his facial area.

The suspect was transported to the Commonwealth Health Center for treatment. Later, he was brought to CIB to answer questions. (MM)
