Man caught red-handed
The smartest traveler couldn’t have done it better than this Abracadabra customer who thought of pre-marking the $100-bills she carried inside her wallet before she took off for a day of water recreation.
As though half-expecting something unexpected to happen, diving enthusiast Monica Johnson wrote down the serial numbers of the US currency inside her wallet which amounted to some $500, before she went diving.
She left her bag full of valuables inside the Abracadabra diving classroom in Beach Road. After the activity, she headed to the Oriental Hotel where she discovered her money missing inside her bag.
Ms. Johnson then went back to the diving store to look for her missing cash by inquiring from the employees of the establishment. She particularly asked for the names of people who were present at the store while she was out diving in the water.
Her investigation led to a 26-year-old Carolinian male, Romeo Wabol, who was apparently left to man the diving shop at the specific hours indicated.
From the suspect, police recovered one $100 bill which matched the serial number that Ms. Johnson listed on a piece of paper.
Mr. Wabol then admitted to having taken the money.
In a police interview with the suspect, he stated that he had intended to return the money. He was arrested for theft charges. (MM)
