CPA finalizing result in Rota concession bidding
The Commonwealth Ports Authority will finalize next week the result of the Rota International Airport concession bar bidding procedures that was opened by the ports authority last month.
CPA Board Chair Roman S. Palacios said the ports authority would announce the winner for the Request for Proposal when the Board convenes next week for its regular meeting.
Palacios said the ports authority had finished the evaluation of the proposals submitted by several concession firms that have expressed interest to operate the Rota International Airport’s snack bar.
He said the result of the evaluation would be released immediately once documentation is completed, adding that the winning bidder would be officially informed of the results.
The CPA issued its RFP on March 11, 2002, which had expired in April 8. Results of the evaluation will be released 30 days after.
Palacios explained that the RFP is in conjunction with CPA’s overall effort not only to help Rota’s local economy but to further diversify CPA’s revenue sources.
He said the CPA has solicited proposals from interested firms to operate a restaurant concession at the Rota airport in anticipation of the expeditious completion of the Rota airport improvement projects.
“The concession area contains 1,564 sq. ft. of space and is located next to the CPA Administration entrance. The space is available for inspection,” Palacios said.
He added that CPA issued proposal packages to interested firms but for the awarding, the ports authority considers the financial aspect of the proposal, previous experience, menu variety, management team, customer service, and pricing.
Palacios said that, through the concession, firms that will be awarded have the obligation to provide food and beverage service at the terminal building of the Rota International Airport.
He said all bidders also submitted documents on operation schedule, hours and type of operation proposed, sales project over a three-year period, brief description of management strategy, and other relevant factors.
Under the concession agreement, the period will be for five years beginning on May 15, this year and expiring on May 14, 2007.
