Members of the Saipan Red All-Stars team showed their appreciation to the Lt. Governor’s Office as they presented an autographed basketball, signed by all the members of the squad, to Lt. Governor Diego Benavente yesterday at his office in Capitol Hill.

The young cagers recently took part in the 26th Annual Marianas Invitational Basketball Tournament in Rota. With the guidance of coach Rufino Aguon and assistant coach Lawrence Rosario, the team rebounded from their opening day loss to Palau and won all their remaining games, concluding with a victory over Guam in the championship game.

The proud Lt. Governor, who was also shocked on the respective heights of the players, had positive comments about the team.

“Congratulations and keep up the good work,” he said.

On hand to witness the presentation were the Saipan All-Star Red players: T.J. Aldan, Kelvin Fitial, Cris Idip, J.C. Kim, Mel Manibusan, Carlito Mendiola, Alex Ogumoro, Ambrose Ogumnoro, Shane Ogumoro and coaches, Secretary of the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs Juan L. Babauta and Elias Rangamar of the Department of Sports and Recreation. Rangamar also accompanied the team to Rota.
