Free training workshop for parents of kids with autism
The CNMI Public School System Special Education Program will be sponsoring a training workshop for parents of children with autism.
Presenters Dr. Laurie Sperry and Ron Faulkner will be discussing services available to people with autism and their families.
The seminar will be on June 12, a Saturday, from 9am to 3pm, at the Star-Po Center (behind Jollibee in Chalan Kanoa, Saipan). The seminar is free of charge.

The seminar’s objectives are to:
• Identify the importance of parents as teachers;
• Identify the importance of home teaching;
• Learn the beginning steps of home teaching;
• Learn how structured teaching goes across all areas of teaching and everyday life; and
• Hands-on construction of materials appropriate to home teaching.
To create materials for your child, bring (if you can):
• Things to sort out, count, match (poker chips, clothespins, golf tees, picture cards, beads, etc.)
• Containers (shoeboxes, ice cream, yogurt, margarine, coffee cans, Tupperware, etc.)
• Toys and books to adapt.
