House vice speaker Timothy P. Villagomez has commended the Department of Public Works for finally repairing the Tun Herman Pan Road leading up to the Saipan International Airport.

Back in March this year, Villagomez had written to DPW Secretary Juan S. Reyes urging him to repair the Airport Road for safety reasons.

“The area between Torres Refrigeration and Herman’s Modern Bakery is particularly problematic, given the steep decline that may pose a hazard to motorists traveling in that area,” wrote Villagomez.

The lawmaker’s letter was prompted by numerous calls to his office about the deplorable road conditions in the area. Villagomez’s Precinct 1 constituents had long been complaining of dangerous potholes that could damage vehicles and lead to automobile accidents.

Among the affected residents is former attorney general Robert T. Torres, who had also called on DPW to fix the area’s potholes to end the zigzag roller-coaster adventures each day.

Villagomez said he is pleased that his call for action was finally heeded by DPW and some of his constituents’ concerns are finally satisfied. He thanks the staff and management of DPW for repairing the road and being responsive to the needs of the community.
