Managed by a civic-oriented beauty expert, Le Marj Beauty Salon has become one of the oldest local companies in its line of business, surviving for almost two decades now.

Le Marj’s Eydie Uy, who has over 20 years of experience as a beauty consultant, said the company has endured the changing economy by consistently providing excellent service and maintaining good relationship with customers.

“You have to communicate with your customers and maintain good relationships,” Uy said. “I’m very loyal to my customers, hardworking and very patient.”

R.E. T. Enterprises Inc.’s Erlinda Torres established Le Marj in April 1986 in Chalan Piao. In 1990, Le Marj relocated its venue to the same village across Joeten along Beach Road.

Although Le Marj has been servicing the local community for over 18 years now, Uy said he continues to attend seminars on Saipan and the Philippines to update himself of the latest fashion in hairstyling.

Le Marj has actively involved itself in community events, with Uy becoming the hairdresser and beauty consultant for many beauty pageant titleholders and contestants over the years. Some of these recent titleholders include Miss CNMI International Kenyelynn Arriola, Miss CNMI First Runner Up Reyna Camacho, Miss CNMI Teen First Runner Up Jocelyn Castro, and Miss CNMI-South Pacific Olivia Tebuteb.

It also participates in tomorrow’s scheduled coronation night for the Little Mr. and Miss San Antonio Parish Council. Uy is former president of the VISMINDA, a Filipino non-profit group, and one of the recipients of the 2000 10 Outstanding Overseas Filipino Workers in the CNMI. He has been involved in facilitating beauty culture courses at the Philippine Consulate General on Saipan.

Veteran beauty expert Nestea Villegas, who brings with him over 20 years of professional experience, supports Uy in maintaining Le Marj’s service standards. Like Uy, Villegas emphasizes the need to maintain harmonious relationships with customers to ensure their continued patronage of Le Marj.

“You should always smile and be patient. The customers are always right,” Villegas said.

Le Marj’s services include haircut, make-up, cellophane and hair manicure, hair coloring, hair rebonding, hair and scalp treatment, facial and hot oil treatment, manicure and pedicure, among others. Uy said Le Marj uses Matrix beauty products in its services.

Le Marj opens daily from 9am to 7:30pm. It can be reached at 234-6424.
