‘President Truman’ to take part in the 60th anniversary events
As part of the 60th Anniversary commemoration events, Chautauqua lecturer Dr. William Worley will give a presentation based on the character of President Harry S. Truman at noon on Monday, June 14.
All seminar presentations, including that of Dr. Worley, will be at the Hyatt Regency Hotel’s Sandcastle Room.
This an opportunity for students and their families to experience a living portrayal of the nation’s history. The presentation promises to be entertaining as well as informative.
Additionally, on Thursday, June 17, Dr. Worley will give a presentation at 6pm at the American Memorial Park.
In his presentations, Dr. Worley takes on the persona and the words of the late President Truman.
“Harry S. Truman was quite proud of his role in presiding over the founding conference of the United Nations. As he demonstrated in Korea, he believed strongly in working with that organization to solve world problems, including military ones,” said Dr. Worley. “Domestically, President Truman was an unreformed New Dealer. He often remarked that he voted for a Republican once. It was an old army comrade who turned out not to be a not very distinguished sheriff of Jackson County, Missouri.”
Dr. Worley’s participation in the 60th anniversary events is sponsored by the Steering Committee for the Commemoration of the 60th Anniversary and the Northern Mariana Islands Council for the Humanities.
