How did the typhoon affect you?
Alex King
“I’ve been going out less. All the fun places have been closed, like the Liberation Fair. There’s a lot of cleaning afterwards. The place around my house is a mess. There are leaves and branches all around.”
Cathy Davis
“It set me back a few days. There’s a lot of issue on the water thing. My only problem is the water. I had power, but I prefer to have water over power.”
Linda S. Basa
“The typhoon actually didn’t really affect me because it gave me an opportunity to stay home and spend more time with my precious children in which I haven’t done since I started attending school. As for electricity, it wasn’t a problem because my landlord provided a back-up generator, but as for the water supply, it was hard because I had to use the drinking water for cooking, washing dishes and bathing the kids, but from this experience, I learned how to conserve my water supply.

“Productivity has come down to about 90 percent at work. Talking to co-workers and doing some planning has been done. There is some work being done, though, so time has not totally been wasted. We have become very dependent on the computer. It’s hard now without power.”
Reapi Raqauqau
“It’s been great. There was no class. It was a nice weekend and all I did was sleep.”
Leonard Morales
“Two of our workers drove to Mt. Tapochau to work the generators. We had Pacific Power and Water with Power 99 staff there to work on the generators to keep it up and running. We made sure that we’re well prepared for the storm so that our station would stay on.”
Rodel Capapi
“No power, I can’t live the same life. I can’t watch T.V., go out, sleep properly. The business I work in has been affected due to the power shortage and the typhoon chased our customers away.”
Lynn Seman
“It was hard for my family. I was off island. My brothers had to go out every time there were trees falling down. One tree almost hit my brother’s car, but they moved it. My family was stuck at home, but they had power during the daytime so it was okay for them.”
Junior Lisua
“I live in SNE apartments across Beach Road. The wind here was strong and all the breadfruit fell down. There was no water and power. The place was flooded. I was stuck at home, it was hard to go out.”
Winy Li
“Big problem. The wind was very strong. Nothing power and water so we could not open the store. The trees were falling down. I cannot drive that day, just walking home to China town.” (Cassie Dlg Fejeran)
