Insurance checkpoints on Friday

The Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Section and Bureau of Motor Vehicle will be conducting roadblocks on Friday, Sept. 3, to check on motorists if their vehicles have mandatory insurance.

The first setup will be on Beach Road, Susupe in front on the Multi-Purpose Center. It will be in operation at about 9am and will be terminated at about 10:15am.

The second set up will be of Beach Road, Susupe in front of the Minatchom Atdao. Operation will start at approximately 4pm and will end at about 5:15pm.

The checkpoints will be terminated if it begins to rain.

This operation is in accordance with Public Law 11-55, the Mandatory Liability Auto Insurance Act, which mandates that all vehicles traveling on the roads of the CNMI must be insured. The checkpoints serve to educate the community about the law, and to enforce the Act. Violators will be fined up to $500.
