Capricciosa, Jollibee spar tonight
The 2004 Inter-Restaurant Basketball League has moved its semifinal games a day early and will proceed tonight at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
The start of the Final Four was originally pegged for tomorrow, Aug. 22, but the unavailability of officials to call the ballgame for Wednesday forced the hands of league officials to just advance the game.
Capricciosa plays powerhouse Jollibee beginning at 11pm. On Friday, Sept. 23, it will be the turn of elimination round runner-up Angel Wings, which will battle host Country House for the second finals seat.
The winners of the two Final Four encounters will advance to a best-of-three championship series, which will crown the 2004 IRBL champion.
The finals will start next Monday, Sept. 27. Game 2 is set on Sept. 29, Wednesday, while Game 3, if needed, will be played on Oct. 1, Friday.
While Capricciosa already secured the Triple J Five-Star Wholesale pennant trophy, the more coveted IRBL Perpetual Cup for the overall champion is still up for grabs.
Other awards to be given out during the awards ceremony are the MVP trophy, spots in the Mythical Five, and the 3-point king award.
