Residents of the Northern Marianas whose homes sustained damage during the onslaught of Typhoon Tingting may now avail of additional emergency assistance from the Northern Marianas Housing Corp.

The agency, through its board, said yesterday that its request for emergency voucher assistance for Typhoon Tingting has already been approved.

It said the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has green-lighted the corporation’s request for Emergency Disaster Voucher for Typhoon Tingting, approving a total of 63 vouchers under the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program.

“Applicants must meet HUD’s Eligibility Requirements with respect to income and Section 214 Citizenship regulations in order to receive assistance,” the agency said in a statement.

NMHC said that those families on Saipan and Tinian whose homes were destroyed by Typhoon Tingting may report to the NMHC Office to update their application for housing assistance.

“The number of vouchers is limited so applicants are urged to come in as soon as possible,” it said.

For inquiries, on Saipan, contact program & housing manager Norman K. Pangelinan at 670.234-6866/7670, and on Tinian, contact field office representative Frances H. Diaz at 670.433-9213 anytime during Monday through Friday, except CNMI holidays, from 7:30am through 4:30pm.
