Flush It! flaunts it over Esemuoel
In the last game before the skies opened up over the southern portion of Saipan, Flush It! extended its unbeaten streak to four games in the continuation of the 6th Annual Miller 4-Person Beach Volleyball League on the beach volleyball court at the Pacific Islands Club Tuesday night.
At 4-0, Flush It! is now all alone in first place in the Tuesday/Thursday night league, and, one by one, they are sending opposing teams in an eddy of elimination. In their most recent game they evacuated Esemuoel in two out of three sets, going 11-4, 9-11, and 11-0.
The win was certainly convincing, and their record will remain pristine for at least another week and a half, as they won’t return to action until they face Tell Them Tom Braider Sent You on Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 8pm.
After falling to 0-3, Esemuoel also has some time to themselves, as they try to stop with the monkey business when they take on the Bananas on Thursday, Oct. 21, at 9pm.
Those same Bananas ripened on Tuesday when they downed Machigainai! in straight sets, 11-8, 11-8, and 11-6 to improve to 3-1 on the season.
The yellow fellows have now won two in a row, and have climbed their way into a tie for fourth place with the 3-1 Dolphins from Marianas High School. The flippers and the peels mixed it up last night, but the results were not available as of press time.
Ironically, ill-timed errors and poor communication plagued Machigainai!, which a team of bilingual experts from the island of Incommunicado recently revealed translates to “no mistakes” in English.
Dropping to 0-3, Machigainai! returns to the sand next Tuesday, Oct. 19, when they exchange volleys with Shoot the Winkle at 8pm.
Raindrops were falling on everybody’s heads at the start of the third match, as Bend It Like Megan broomed the Bill Bratzski’s in three, 11-8, 11-8, and 11-4. The Megan-wannabes took care of good ol’ Bratzski to stretch their unbeaten streak to three games.
If they beat on the under-aged overachievers from MHS on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 6pm, they will move into a first place tie with Flush It!.
The Bill Bratzski’s on the other hand are currently residing at the fashionable 0-3 apartments with roommates Machigainai!, Esemuoel, and Team Papalatung. Their next chance to break into the win column is also next Tuesday, when they battle a bunch of Bananas at 7pm.
The cellar dwelling Team Papalatung extended their lease by at least another couple of days when they fell to the Dragon Flares, but they made a stand when they won the third set 11-9 to earn a moral victory.
The Flares are on a two-game win streak and were looking to set fire to the Clam Smackers last night, but again—no results as of press time. At 2-1, they are in pretty good shape, but if they are content with being in a tie for sixth in a 13-team league, the Dragons are a draggin’.
Team Papalatung and Shoot the Winkle were also in a shootout last night, and the results will be provided right here tomorrow as well.
All the side-outs you can handle will be doled out again next Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the PIC. If you would like further information about the 6th Annual Miller 4-Person Beach Volleyball League, contact Jon, Evan, Dennis, or Nan by calling the SEA office at 235-6231 ext. 5147.
