Determination, a couple of birdies and coming in three-under at the back nine and 40 in the front, Rick Kautz topped the Saipan Golf Association November Ace Tournament held last Sunday, Nov. 14, at Coral Ocean Point golf course.

With an eight-handicap, Kautz swooped the title with a superb score of seven-under 65. April and October aces Joe Sablan and Jess Castro settled for second and third places, respectively.

With a handicap of 23, Sablan netted a 69, while Castro outscored former Superior Court presiding justice Edward Manibusan on a tiebreaker after both carded identical net scores of 72. The Top 3 winners each received cash prizes and a turkey package.

Combining the November Ace and the Turkey Shoot, the following golfers also came away with a turkey giveaway; fourth through seventh place winners went to Manibusan, Larry Guerrero, Anthony Benavente, and Matias Chargualaf, respectively.

A total of 16 SGA golfers participated on the special advanced Thanksgiving Day event. In-kind prizes were also presented to the rest of the participants.

Very spirited and showing huge smiles, Kautz again dominated the closest to the pin contests on hole No. 3. Art Guerrero and Joe “Tofila” Guerrero capitalized on hole No. 7 and hole No. 12, respectively. Ray Salas scooped the win on hole No. 14. All three also received cash prizes and turkey giveaways.

When it rains it definitely pours, as Kautz also won the longest drive competition after out-distancing everyone on hole No. 16. Castro then outdistanced the rest on hole No. 6. Both went home with cash prizes.

SGA would hold its final monthly tournament of the year this coming Sunday, Nov. 21, at the Kingfisher Golf Links in Talafofo.

Tee-off is at set 7:15am. SGA is encouraging all participants to be there 30 minutes prior for pairings and a short briefing.
