PATA exec to speak at MVA meeting
Marianas Visitors Authority members will have a chance to know more about the benefits of linking up with the Pacific Asia Travel Association and get updated on the travel industry situation during MVA’s membership meeting next month.
MVA has invited PATA vice president Peter Semone to be the guest speaker at the Dec. 7 meeting at the Fiesta Hall of Hafa Adai Beach Hotel.
According to information provided by MVA, Semone oversees business development for PATA. He is supported by a global team of regional directors based in Bangkok, San Francisco, Frankfurt, and Sydney.
Before joining PATA in May 2002, Semone spent over a decade in Indonesia where he founded a destination management company to serve the logistical requirements of international cruise liners plying the seas of Indonesia.
He also helped develop several adventure tour products on Bali. He served as a strategic consultant for the Indonesian Ministry of Culture and Tourism, as well as numerous private sector companies and is a frequent lecturer in destination management and tourism economics.
Semone holds a BA in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania and an MMH in Tourism Development from Cornell University’s School of Hospitality Management.
“As our guest speaker, Mr. Semone will provide the MVA members a unique opportunity to connect with the leading authority on travel and tourism in the Pacific Asia region,” said MVA managing director Vicky I. Benavente.
Attendees of the general membership meeting can also expect to receive presentations on topics to include the Approved Destination Status from the People’s Republic of China, strategic marketing plans, and promotional campaigns for Fiscal Year 2005, Benavente said.
