Open letter to the Governor, Lt. Governor

I think I speak a lot for our people when I say that it is really frustrating to follow up on the tax rebate that was supposed to have come out since the end of October. I have tried so many times to call the Tax & Revenue office but to no avail. You can let it ring 20 or 30 times and still no one is there to answer your call. Is there anyone working there? And if there are, then why do they just turn a deaf ear to their phones? Hello…phone etiquette. Don’t you feel cheated by people turning in their time sheets, claiming to work and you paying them yet they’re not there to answer the phones or even take their time to attend to customers? Or when they do answer the phones, surprisingly, the answer is always, “the computer is down.” Don’t you have technicians to fix that? How long does it take them for them to do that? Maybe they really are doing their work and have burned down the computer. That will be a big surprise if you answer yes to that.

On child tax, isn’t that federal money? If it gets approved, why is it taking too long for them to print it? Are you guys trying to get money from that too to pay for whatever debt is here on our debt-ridden island?

To sum it all up, when are our rebates coming out? Thanksgiving has come and gone and Christmas is coming up and believe me, a lot of us can use that money. Do we have to write you a letter first? Do we have to have connections first? People meet the deadline of April 15 so I think it’s just fair to let you do your end of the bargain and meet the deadline of Oct. 31st, or if not, a lot soon afterwards.

By the way, good luck trying to call Tax & Revenue to find answers to your questions.
