My name is Alaysha Mafnas Muna, a current senior at Saipan Southern High School. Over the summer break, I received a letter stating that I was nominated to the National Youth Leadership Conference. The program offers talented young people the most authentic leadership laboratory in education today—testing their abilities, boosting their confidence, and charging their skills in a dynamic, hands-on atmosphere of challenge and fun. The National Youth Leadership Council gave me about three weeks to gather as much sponsors as possible to help pay for my tuition, which was $1,344.00. This is a lot of money to raise in such a short period of time. However, through the help of various sponsors and supporters I was able to raise the funds needed in time and was accepted into the conference. The conference I will be attending will begin on Dec. 7, 2004 and will last until Dec. 12, 2004. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the various people who helped me and supported me in any way they could.

I would like to express my deepest appreciation to Rep. David M. Apatang, Rep. Jesus T. Attao, Rep. Janet U. Maratita, Rep. Ramon A. Tebuteb, Rep. Benjamin B. Seman, Rep. Joe P. Guerrero and Sen. Luis Crisostimo for supporting me. Their support of this cause is a perfect example of the faith and certainty they have in the youth of the CNMI.

I would like to thank Verizon Micronesia, One Call Inc., Mail Management Services and Ms. Marian Aldan-Pierce for their support and contribution.

Lastly, but certainly not least, I would like to thank my family, most especially my parents, Ramon W. and Celina M. Muna who did anything and everything to make sure I would able to attend this conference. I promise to represent the CNMI to the best of my abilities. Again, thank you to all who have supported me and my goals!
