PREL accepts applications for 2005 scholarships
The Pacific Resources for Education and Learning said that it is now accepting applications for the annual Pacific Teacher Scholarships.
PREL created the scholarship fund in 2004 in an effort to increase the number of qualified teachers and librarians working in the U.S.-affiliated Pacific.
Scholarships are awarded to students who are enrolled in an accredited teacher preparation or library science certification program. Applicants must reside in American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, or the Republic of Palau, and intend to teach or work in a school or school library in the Pacific region.
“We are delighted to be able to make these scholarships available to candidates, who, like PREL, are dedicated to quality education in the Pacific,” says PREL CEO Tom Barlow.
The scholarship complements other PREL initiatives and programs that support increased student achievement.
To apply for a Pacific Teacher Scholarship, visit PREL’s website or contact your local PREL service center. Application forms and instructions on how to apply are available on the Web at www.prel.org/scholarship. All application materials must be received by March 31, 2005.
PREL is an independent, nonprofit corporation that serves the educational community in the U.S.-affiliated Pacific islands, the continental United States, and countries throughout the world. PREL’s main office is located in Honolulu, Hawaii, with service centers in American Samoa, the CNMI, the FSM (Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap), Guam, the RMI, and the Republic of Palau.
