Tagaman preparations continue forward
As the days wind down toward the start of the 16th Annual Tagaman Triathlon, organizers are continuing their efforts to host what they plan to be the best event in the history of the local multi-sport happening.
At a meeting of race officials and sponsors in the conference room of the Marianas Visitors Authority in San Jose last week, the MVA provided an inventory of all equipment accumulated from the previous years, as well as a schedule of events flier, which was passed around for editing.
Once completed, the finalized version will be sent to all MVA travel destinations throughout their zone of influence.
Russ Quinn of Verizon showed samples of the volunteer’s cap for the April event that will be distributed to the people who give their time to lend a hand in the event. The white caps feature the Tagaman logo on the front and the Verizon symbol on the back. Quinn said that 1,000 of the caps have been ordered, and will be ready prior to race day.
In addition to being able to register at the MVA headquarters, the web site has been updated to allow participants to sign up on-line. The new course map is also available by logging on to www.tagaman.com.
The Tagaman team received two new allies in their plight, as Laurie Peterka and Sue Knecht raised their hands to be involved for the rest of the pre-race planning. Peterka will be involved with the timing and results of both the Tagaman and Tagakids, while Knecht will be organizing the Tagakids event.
Organizers will follow up on all of the travel arrangements, prize acquisitions, and the recruitment of professional athletes when they return to the MVA conference room next Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 1:30pm.
