To my constituents, family and friends

Once again, thank you for all the support you have given us, the soldiers of 100 Battalion 442 Infantry. Without your support, encouragement, and prayers, it would be hard for us to continue this mission that was given us. This mission is about freedom and democracy that the CNMI had embraced after being given our own liberation many years ago.

I also want to thank all my constituents who have supported me and who have given me encouragement in this deployment. I know that my representation in the House of Representatives is reduced but I want to assure you, that although I am absent, my spirit remains very much with you. Today’s marvels of technology have enabled me to stay in touch with friends and family, as well as to learn from my staff about the problems faced by some of my constituents and about happenings in the CNMI. My staff has been outstanding, as always, in assisting Precinct 3 and the rest of the Commonwealth with any matter that concerns them. Do not hesitate to call my office should you have any concerns. Thank you for entrusting me with your confidence as a public servant. I look forward, more than you can ever know, to being with you again, and resuming my seat as Representative very soon.

I am happy to report that we are all here safe and in good spirits. The CNMI spirit of friendship and camaraderie is clearly in the air as our feet touched the sandy ground of Kuwait. I am proud to say that you really know if we are in the area because the playing of ukuleles and singing is prevalent. It is almost hard to imagine, especially when we are preparing to enter a war zone. I know that all the months of training and preparation will allow us to be successful and to all return home safe. As always, without the love and support of my wife Marites, son Dominic, my parents, brothers, sister and family, it definitely would be a hardship deployment.

Lastly, I would like to commend the Saipan Tribune and Marianas Variety for their online editions to ensure that the news of the Commonwealth reaches every part of the globe, including Kuwait and Iraq.
