Calling all canoe enthusiasts

The Northern Marianas Islands Canoe Federation is looking to field a team for the 2005 South Pacific Mini-Games in Palau, and they will be holding open tryouts this morning for anyone interested in becoming a member of the CNMI team.

According to NMICF representative Ed Johnson, men and women ages 16 and older are eligible for the Mini Games so long as they have been a resident of the CNMI for seven years or are of local descent (i.e. Chamorro or Carolinian).
Potential paddlers need to be at Kilili Beach this morning, Saturday, Feb. 5 between the hours of 8am and 10:30am, as they will try to get all of the outriggers into the water as soon as possible to start evaluations.

According to the rules of the South Pacific Mini Games Organizing Committee, there spaces on the roster will be limited to 10 men and 10 women per country, and no more that one entry per event in accordance with SPG Charter, so entrants should be prepared to do their best.
