SCC to name 2004 Business Person of the Year

The social event that kicks off the year will be happening tomorrow, when the Saipan Chamber of Commerce hosts a glittering dinner to highlight the installation of its new officers and the announcement of the chamber’s 2004 Business Person of the Year.
Starting at 6:30pm at the Hibiscus Hall, Dai-Ichi Hotel Saipan Beach, this event will be led by the association’s president, Alex Sablan, who returns for a second term.
Highlighting the evening as keynote speaker will be Gov. Juan N. Babauta. Besides the awarding of the 2004 Business Person of the Year, other aspects of the evening include musical entertainment, the chamber President Address, and a silent auction.
All proceeds from the evening will benefit the Chamber’s Educational Scholarship Fund, which every year gives scholarships to deserving local students who will be attending college.
Officers to be installed are Sablan of Saipan Shipping, as president; Juan T. Guerrero of Juan T. Guerrero & Associates, as vice president; Michael S. Johnson of Deloitte and Touche, treasurer; and Jay B. Jones of Triple J Motors, secretary.
Directors to be installed are Jim Arenovski, Delta Management Corp.; Harry B. Blalock, KZMI/KCNM Radio Stations; Charles V. Cepeda, Pacific Trading Co.; Bob Hudkins, Hertz; and David M. Sablan, Sr., Century Insurance Co.
