Danville, California-based Wheelchair Foundation completed its distribution of additional 130 wheelchairs to people in need on Saipan, Rota and Tinian last Saturday at the Northern Marianas College compound.

Of the 130 wheelchairs that arrived last Dec. 29, 20 units were sent to Tinian and another 20 to Rota.

The rest were distributed to individuals on Saipan who were also in great need of the wheelchairs, according to Rob Erickson and Dave Ayres.

The two, together with University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, helped distribute the wheelchairs. Erickson and Ayres also thanked the donors for the success of the drive.

The foundation distributed a total of 410 wheelchairs in the CNMI, through the generosity of various donors from all over the world as well as numerous volunteers on Saipan.

The Wheelchair Foundation is extending its appreciation to William S. Curry, owner of South Pacific Environmental, Wild Bill’s Bar & Grill, and Sumjai’s Jewelry for providing monetary support to acquire the 130 wheelchairs.

The foundation also wants to thank Dwayne Sablan and Ignacia Villaluz of NMC’s Procurement and Supply Department for the use of NMC’s warehouse for all the wheelchairs.

They also appreciate the support of the Pacific Islands Club management team, led by general manager Keiran Daly and resident manager Jerry John, also for the distribution of the wheelchairs.

The drive was also supported by Vicky Ann Angey, Andrew Souas, Topias Saimon and Renier Aisek., who assisted on the shipment of the wheelchairs. (Marconi Calindas)
