Water supply to Gualo Rai to return to normal

Water levels in Gualo Rai remain low Wednesday and Thursday because the water levels in the reservoirs are low. Water is pumped from regional wells, put into the reservoir, and cleaned, prior to public release. As the dry season slowly begins, customers everywhere will notice variations of water supply, based on rainfall.

In Gualo Rai, water operators are conducting maintenance, all part of the new Maintenance Action Program for the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. Water Division. The operators found that a valve is not operating, and it is being replaced.

Some of the approximate 1,000 residents in Gualo Rau will begin to have typical February water once that new valve is installed by today, Feb. 24; and as the reservoir fills up increasingly, all customers in this area will again experience normal water supply.

This is one of many reasons that maintenance is paramount in Saipan’s 13 water systems, and customer conservation efforts will certainly make a difference as the dry and dusty month of March nears.
