Rizza Hensley wanted it all and after falling a bit short in last month’s competition, was determined to put up a better showing in the Pepsi February Queen of the Lanes Tenpin Bowling Tournament.

Hensley bagged exactly what she was playing for, taking home the February title as well as the first place prize of $60 after knocking down a total of 693 pins Monday night at the Saipan Bowling Center in Oleai.

After rolling a series of 135, 121, 122, and 134 Sunday for a tally of 512 and an average of 128, Hensley returned and put up stronger numbers Monday, playing consistently throughout her four-game series.

She started by tattooing 179 pins in her first game then followed it up with a 176-pinfall total in her second game. She then punched in a 172 in her third game and closed out her impressive run by adding 166 pins to her total.

After all four games, Hensley walked away with a respectable average of 173.25, much better than her 161.5 average she logged in last month’s tourney.

Finishing second and earning $25 was Emi Williams with a total pinfall of 657. She scored a 155 in her first game, and got into a zone in the second for a 191. She struggled in her third game, registering only 132 pinfalls before storming right back and closing with 179 pins. After putting a beating on the pins, Williams finished with an average of 164.25.

She also bowled on Sunday, knocking down 663 pins for a 158.25 average.

Mindy Taitano placed third and $20, knocking down 181, 154, 166, and 148 pins in four games for a total of 649 and an average of 162.25, while Lala Taitano bagged fourth place and $15 with 627 pins and an average of 156.75. She struggled in the beginning, scoring only a 129, before getting back in line for a 170. She then capped her performance with a 163 and 165.

Rounding up the Top 10 are Malou Cabigao (616), Elena Soll (616), Carol Mckenzie (612), Ron Cal (605), Cora Muna (600), and Ruby Besid (594).

The February Pepsi Queen of the Lanes attracted a total of 25 entries. The monthly bowling competition for women bowlers is sponsored by Pacific Trading Co. and organized by the Saipan Bowling Association. It culminates with a season-ending championship tournament at the end of the season.
