The submission deadline for the first Flame Tree Film Festival is being extended to Monday, April 11, 2005.

According to FTFF organizer Galvin Deleon Guerrero, submissions have been coming in but “several local filmmakers have requested that the deadline be pushed back.”

The new deadline will give local filmmakers more time to complete their projects in time for submission.

Deleon Guerrero cites the work of the Amateur Filmmaking Workshop as an example of film-work needing extra production time.

“They should have a finished product by April 8. So we’re giving them and others until April 11,” he said.

The Flame Tree Film Festival, which aims to be an annual event, will first feature motion picture work by local filmmakers in a non-competitive forum.

Next year’s film festival, which coincides with the Flame Tree Arts Festival history 25th anniversary, will invite filmmakers from throughout the Pacific and Oceana to submit film entries for competition.
