Carmen Safeway supermarket kicked off its grand opening celebration yesterday, giving away free goodies to patrons.

The supermarket celebrates its grand opening from April 1 to 6. Carmen Safeway Enterprises Inc. wholly acquired the former Meitetsu supermarket on Beach Road, Chalan Kanoa, and renamed it Carmen Safeway supermarket.

“The customer turnout is very good,” said Eli Maravilla, the supermarket’s general manager.

The supermarket, with the support of its suppliers, gave customers a treat, offering customers slices of cake donated by Matson Navigation, assorted cookies and cones of Selecta ice cream from Micronesian Brokers Inc., and Assam black tea from Royal Supplies.

The supermarket also gave away T-shirts and Pepsi Cola caps for certain purchases of beer and Pepsi products.

Today, the supermarket would hold a strawberry festival, offering fresh strawberries flown in from Japan for sale.

Maravilla also said that there would be free newborn baby bag kits for purchases of Enfamel milk products and free lucky cat ceramic for purchases of Asahi beer.
