Government softball debut pushed back

After taking the better part of the last year to reflect on the success of the 2004 season, the public servants who participated in last year’s Government Softball League are going to have to wait another week before getting back in the swing of things, as the underhanded action of the 2005 edition has suffered a minor setback.

According to league organizers, the lighting array at the Oleai Sports Complex softball field is without the use of roughly half of its lights, and forced the tentative start date that the league scheduled for next Monday to be delayed at least until Monday, April 11.

The call has gone out to the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation to shed some light on the situation, and organizers are hoping that there will be no need to delay the start of the new season any further.
