Pool Junkies, Breakers are kings of Budweiser-Budlight pool
The Budweiser-Budlight Billiard League ended its first season of the year with a bit of a surprise.
In the Wednesday night A Division, Pool Junkies having been way out in front the whole season slid backwards to wind up in fourth place with 72 points.
No Mercy shot to the forefront by winning 39 points just in the last four weeks taking the lead with a total of 78 points. Destroyers and Hunks had to shoot it out to determine second and third place with Destroyers taking second.
Destroyers won 30 points in the last three weeks ending with 76 points, while Hunks were right behind with 29 points in the same span ending with 75 points.
In the Tuesday night B Division, the Breakers topped the standings with 77 points beating out Marines I by only 3 points. The Ballers won third place with a very respectable total of 63 points.
Games won are worth one point each per team. In every match there are four single games, where players must win, best two out of three games and one doubles match, also best two out of three, with a maximum total of 10 points that can be won by any team per match.
The A Division teams have some of the top pool sharks on Saipan and the B Division, while having some new players in the league this year; also have excellent shooters helping their teammates to excel in the sport. Players may play both leagues if they choose.
The banquet for awarding trophies and prize money will be tonight, April 13, from 6pm to 9pm at Club USSP.
In other events the CNMI Dart League will hold its first meeting of 2005, to organize teams for the upcoming league, this Saturday April 23, at The Pool Bar in Garapan at 8pm.
