Golden Lobster resto to offer kamayan-style dining
There’s a new restaurant that is fast becoming a favorite noontime hangout for its affordable lunch buffet of assorted dishes on Middle Road, San Jose.
And there’s more to try at the New Golden Lobster Café and Steak Restaurant in the coming days, according to business couple Rene and Babes Batallones, who recently acquired the establishment.
The business couple disclosed that Golden Lobster would soon launch the Kamayan night fiesta for Fridays, where guests can partake of an all-you-can-eat seafood feast, lechon de leche, and other delicacies—without using utensils or chopsticks but simply their bare hands, Filipino style.
“I always listen to customers,” said Rene, who proudly shared that he has been receiving positive feedback about the quality of food and hospitable service at the restaurant, which he and his wife acquired only on March 1.
“A group of customers even wrote a note on a table napkin, saying that they would come back because of the great service,” added Babes.
The restaurant is the first foray into the food business by the Batallones couple, who have been involved in other auto-related ventures. Rene has been managing Motion Automotive Repair, Pacific Auto Glass, Roadside Towing, and Collision Auto Body since 1995. Motion Automotive Repair is located on Beach Road, Chalan Laulau, while the three other auto shops are located on Middle Road across Verizon’s offices.
Rene said it has been his wife’s dream to have her own restaurant because of her penchant for cooking. When the Batallones’ family friend, the former owners of the restaurant, offered the venture for sale, the couple took over Golden Lobster.
Golden Lobster’s sales have been performing well since the Batallones took over its operations. The restaurant offers lunch buffet daily at only $5.50 per person. For a group of six persons, the restaurant offers discount equivalent to one person’s fee. On Sundays, the restaurant offers Sunday brunch at $7 per person.
The couple also said they are planning to introduce membership cards that would entitle regular patrons to price discounts at the restaurant.
Instant favorites at the restaurant include chicken kelaguen, shrimp kelaguen, shrimp sinigang, kare-kare, bento, and fried rice.
The restaurant opens daily and serves breakfast from 6:30am to 11am, lunch from 11am to 2pm, and dinner from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. It plans on serving merienda or snacks from 2pm to 6:30pm soon.
“We acquired the restaurant. We will continue to serve because we are committed,” the couple said.
