PSS buses give all out support for arts fest
Public School System associate commissioner David M. Borja said at least two of its nine school buses are going to be used during the Flame Tree Arts Festival this weekend.
He said the festival committee sought Education’s assistance by lending its buses to help bring guests to the festival venue and to their respective hotels.
Borja said that PSS immediately agreed since they have been participating in this grand event by providing the buses to some visitors. The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs would shoulder the cost of fuel during the entire operations.
The Community and Cultural Affairs office would also have to take the responsibility of paying the bus drivers’ overtime pay, said Borja.
Arts Council director Robert Hunter said earlier that more than 200 off island visitors are arriving today. These visitors would come as far as from Hawaii, Republic of Palau, Republic of Marshall Islands, and Guam. There will also be participants from Rota and Tinian.
The PSS bus would be picking up the delegates coming from Guam at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport and bringing them to the Sun Palace Hotel. During the festival the buses will pick them up from the hotel to the American Memorial Park, which is the festival venue.
Rota participants will be picked up from the airport and brought to the Paradise Hotel where they will stay. The delegates will be picked up and dropped off at the festival venue for the duration of the event.
Tinian delegates will be picked up from the Ferry Dock and brought to the festival venue tomorrow at 8am.
