Gov. Juan N. Babauta will deliver his State of the Commonwealth Address on May 17 as set by the 14th Legislature.

House Speaker Benigno R. Fitial and Senate President Joaquin G. Adriano said in a memorandum that the annual address will be held at 10am at the Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.

During the event, Washington Rep. Pete A. Tenorio is also expected to deliver his report.

The Legislature calls on the governor every year to apprise the public of the pressing issues facing the CNMI, among others.

Two years ago, the governor had described the CNMI economy as strong and “pretty darn good.” Last year, the chief executive set a similar positive tone.

“The people want to hear what the governor has to say now,” said House leadership spokesman Charles Reyes yesterday.
