Sagip Kapamilya thanks Filipinos worldwide
MANILA, Philippines—“No matter how long it will take, we will thank each and every donor that entrusted us with their SAGIP KAPAMILYA donation,” says Gina Lopez, managing director of ABS-CBN Foundation.
Even after her television production team informed her that there were more than 10,000 donors worldwide who gave to “Sagip Kapamilya,” Lopez reiterated her instructions to her group.
SAGIP KAPAMILYA, through a telethon, was the immediate response of the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation, through its Foundation, and its affiliates (DZMM, Regional Network Group, Studio 23, ANC, The Filipino Channel) after four typhoons devastated more than 20 provinces nationwide last December 2004 with Quezon province as the most badly hit. More than 4200 volunteers helped in re-packing the relief goods as well as distributing these to 85,000 affected families. The telethon raised more than Php170 million in cash, pledges and in kind for the typhoon victims.
Each “thank you” plug, says Cielo Reyes, Creative Communications Manager of the Foundation for plugs, takes 30 seconds.
“In that span of time, we can only publicize 30 names because we want to make sure it can be read clearly and right away.”
To date, five weeks after the plugs have started airing at The Filipino Channel worldwide, there have already been 50 versions of the “thank you” plugs made.
“Still a long way to go (300 more versions of the plugs to do) but the commitment is there to show our appreciation to each and every donor who coursed their donation for the typhoon victims through us,” says Reyes. “We will thank them for as long as it takes.”
