WSR PTSA MEETING TODAY

The William S. Reyes Elementary School’s Parents Teachers Students Association would like to inform all parents and guardians that the PTSA meeting will be held today, May 3, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Kinder and 6th grade parents and guardians are encouraged to attend the meeting to discuss the upcoming graduation and awards ceremony.

SCC INVESTMENT WORKSHOP REGISTRATION DEADLINE TODAY

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Investment Workshop has been postponed to Thursday, May 5, giving those interested until today, May 3, to register.

Originally scheduled for Thursday, April 28, the Investment Workshop, led by David Beaver of Merrill, Lynch, will be held at the Hibiscus Hall of Saipan World Resort.

The cost for the full-day workshop, including lunch, is $25 for SCC members and $45 for non-members. Pre-registration is required: call 233-7150 to register.

Topics to be covered during the workshop are:

* Stocks Bonds and Mutual Funds

* Diversification, Asset Allocation and Sectors

* Types of accounts (Tax Efficient vs. Traditional Accounts)

* General Forum/ Strategies

There will also be time for participants to have their own questions answered.

Remember, you must pre-register. Call 233-7150 before Tuesday, May 3 in order to be registered for this workshop. (PR)

OES PTSA MEETING NEXT WEEK

The Parents Teachers Students Association of the Oleai Elementary School would like to inform the parents and guardians of OES students that the PTSA meeting will be on Tuesday, May 10, 6pm, in the school cafeteria.

SISTER REMEDIOS SCHOOL REGISTRATION SET

Registration at the Sister Remedios Early Childhood Development Center School for the coming school year 2005-2006 is now open and ongoing.

If you are interested in enrolling your child, you can stop by the school and pick up the application form and all the pertinent information you will need.

CALL FOR ARTWORK

The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs’ Office of the Commonwealth Council for Arts and Cultures and the Women’s Affairs Office will be sponsoring the annual International Women’s Exhibit scheduled to open on May 6, 2005 through June 3, 2005 at the CNMI Gallery for Arts and Culture. This exhibit will feature works created by all the women in the CNMI.

Interested women artists are asked to submit works by Wednesday, May 4, 2005 to the Arts Council Office from 8am to 4pm. Registration forms are available and free.

TAX FILING DEADLINE SET

The Division of Revenue and Taxation wished to remind all CNMI residents that the 2005 1st Quarter deadline for filing the quarterly tax returns is Monday, May 2, 2005. The Division of Revenue and Taxation will be open from 7:30am until 8:30pm on Monday, May 2, 2005. The office of the Division of Revenue and Taxation is located at the Joeten Dandan Commercial Center.

SUMMER PRE-LAW PROGRAM REGISTRATION

Two law professors from the University of New Mexico Law School will be teaching in the Summer Pre-Law Program, to be held from June 27 to July 15, 2005. The three-week program is open to college seniors and graduates who are interested in pursuing a law degree. All instructions will be held at the Supreme Court in Susupe. Applications may be downloaded from the CNMI Judiciary’s website at www.justice.gov.mp or may be obtained at the office of the Clerk of Court, Supreme Court. Priority deadline for application is May 1, 2005. Call 236-9800 for more information.

FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR UTILITY PAYMENTS

The Saipan Mayor’s Office has announced the availability of funds under the Mayor’s Utility Assistance Program to help qualified residents pay for one month of their overdue power bill.

This is a federally funded program available to residents of Saipan who are unable to bring their power account current with the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.

Applications can be picked up at the Saipan Mayor’s Office at Afetnas Square in San Antonio during regular working hours, Monday to Friday, from 7:30am to 11am and from 12:30pm to 4pm.
