Shirata is valedictorian in GCA K-5 commencement

Kenichi Luke Shirata of Kindergarten 5 Section Rapha was named valedictorian, besting 33 fellow students in this year’s 19th Grace Christian Academy Kindergarten Commencement exercises last Tuesday night.

Shirata also bagged the school’s Eagle Award for the positive attitude he exhibited during the past school year.

Shirata’s parents, who were not informed beforehand of the honor being bestowed on their son, appeared surprised but overjoyed when the masters of ceremonies announced their son’s name. The faculty did not to reveal the names of students with high honors until the graduation ceremony itself.

Salutatorian honors went to Francis Joseph E. Dalusung, who is also from section Rapha. First honorable mention was Kenta O. Oyama, while second honorable mention was Martha O. De Villa. Cedric Lamar T. Camacho, Kenneth Ralph F. Dadivas and James Matthew B. Marasigan shared the third honorable mention.

The school presented other awards such as the President’s List, which went to Shirata, De Villa, Camacho, Marasigan, Dalusung, Elyssa Xavier Mendez, Franklyn Aldan and Mia Sablan.

Consistent Honor Roll awardees were Dadivas, Delaney Kyle Chua, Eden Abigail P. Deang, Aileen Camille V. Dimaano, Henry Kyle B. Hofschneider, Esther En Kim, Eun Ki Kim, Sealina A. Mafnas, Lauren Faye D. Mar, John Matthew B. Mendez, Shania J. Pablo, Paula Rose G. Talibong, Poima Maleah M. Tarkong, Zamuel K. Alfred, Eligah Marie P. Camacho, Tia P. Camacho, Benedict C. Crisostomo, Jedd Marc J. Cudia, Garijo Francis Gamab, Oyama and Hong Gan Yoon.

Other graduates who were also given special awards were Alyssa Jean Pantaleon, Anesta David and Edward Y. Minami.

The graduation was held at the GCA Auditorium. Pastor Faith Dixon gave an inspiring message to the graduates and reminded the children of their responsibility as Christians to their parents, to the community and to God.

Presentation of graduates and awarding of diplomas were led by senior pastor and chair of the board Rev. Raymond Kinsella and GCA principal Faith Dela Rosa.

The emcees for the evening were teachers Ashley Sara Childers and Angela Nichole Shyrack.
