June qualifying to take place of scrapped goodwill
The RGA Goodwill Golf Tournament set for tomorrow, May 28, has been cancelled, according to The Refaluwasch Golf Association president Jess Wabol.
Wabol said participants from the Chamorro Golf Club of Guam backed out after failing to secure return flights for the weekend.
He, however, said that all is not lost for RGA members already looking forward to a weekend in the greens and the fairways, as RGA would hold its June Qualifying Tournament tomorrow at the Coral Ocean Point Resort golf course.
Wabol said the qualifying swing-off would have an 11am check-in time and a 12pm tee-off time. Entrance fee for the event is $30, which is exclusive of green fees.
The RGA president also continued to invite golf players on Saipan to help the islands’ youth baseball program by participating in a fundraising golf tournament set for June 11 also at the COP.
Wabol said proceeds from the event will be used to purchase trophies, medals, and other mementos for players in the Saipan and Tinian Little League programs.
He also said money raised from the event would also defray the cost of hosting the Asia-Pacific Regional Little League Tournament on Tinian in the next couple of months.
