Camacho, Huang named MCS valedictorians

Grade school students Jiana Pangelinan Camacho and Dannie Wan Yi Huang were Mount Carmel School‘s grade school valedictorians this year.

The graduation ceremony was held at the Mount Carmel Cathedral yesterday morning, with 56 grade school graduates receiving their diplomas. Parents, relatives and friends gathered inside the cathedral to witness the graduation rite.

Geraldine Pearl Babauta Sasamoto was the class’ salutatorian. Graduating with honors were Min Kyung “Rachel” Kim, Judy Ann A. Santos, Michael A. Villagomez and Jared Michael Perez-Christel.

MCS grade school gave three special graduation awards. The Citizenship Award went to valedictorian Camacho, while the Leadership Award went to fellow valedictorian Huang. The Principal’s Award went to Judy Ann A. Santos.

In her valedictory address, Camacho reminded her classmates that they should keep acquiring more knowledge and that they should never quench their thirst for learning.

School chaplain Rev. Rey Rosal led the opening prayer and MCS president Margaret C. Dela Cruz briefly congratulated this year’s grade school graduates. Bishop Tomas A. Camacho led the presentation of diplomas to the graduates, together with Catholic Schools’ superintendent Rev. Joseph E. Billotti, MCS board chair Edward Manibusan, Dela Cruz and principal Todd A. Blahnik.

Blahnik closed yesterday ceremony with the blessing of the bishop.

The grade school’s graduating class who are members of the National Honor Society include Camacho, Kim, Do-Hyun “Peter” Park, Jan Villette Deleon Guerrero Salas, Santos and Villagomez.
