The Ol’Aces and the Fielders were on hand Sunday night at Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field to decide once and for all who would be crowned as the pennant champion of the 2005 Saipan Little League Baseball Association’s Senior League.

The players were there early and were warmed up well before the game’s 6pm start, their respective managers had already furnished the scorekeepers with the line-ups, and the fans were all settled into the bleachers and their folding chairs.

All that remained was the completion of the Junior League contest between the Jets and the Fielders, but due to the pitchers serving up more walks than SAIWAI, they sat idly by. Regardless of their loyalties to family and friends, the Senior Leaguers grew eager each time either team came close to winning the contest. By the time the game crept into the ninth inning it had become apparent to everyone that there would not be adequate time for the game to continue, and roughly around 8:15pm, an announcement echoed from the press box that the pennant race would have to be decided later in the week.

The Fielders and the Ol’Aces square off in the battle of the best tomorrow night, June 9, at the Palacios field at 6pm.
