Another boycott threat

I add my comments to those of John Blanco and Jo Agapa letters against the planned protest of the Korean Association during the imperial visit to Saipan.

Since my family make grocery purchases mostly at Joeten, Martha’s and now, also at, Carmen Safeway, it may not matter much, but I will also boycott purchasing anything from any store that is owned by a Korean national if the Korean community on Saipan proceed to protest the imperial visit to Saipan. I will even boycott the Korean restaurants where we eat.

I also ask others to join John and Jo boycott buying anything from any business that is owned by Korean nationals if they should decide to protest the imperial visit. If we do this collectively, it would make a difference if the Korean businesses depend only on their nationals as their customer.

Even without the protest, locals must make the effort to patronize local businesses. This way, most of the money businesses earn on their sales remains on the island. Try it for a few months and you will see that Joeten, Martha’s and Carmen Safeway have on stock almost all your grocery needs. Even gasoline prices are cheaper at the independent station owned by Jack and Del Manglona in Sadog Tasi. The difference in prices, overtime, is substantial.

Moreover, patronage of locally owned businesses greatly and directly benefits our entire community.
