Manila’s concert king, Martin Nievera, will go ahead with his concert on Saipan this Sunday despite the postponement of his concert on Guam.

With only three days left before the year’s biggest concert takes center stage, preparations are now in high gear to ensure that Saipan audiences will be treated to an international caliber show.

The Guam concert has been postponed until August but Saipan’s concert organizers are pushing through with his performance here.

“We want Saipan audiences to experience how it is to be a part of a major production. Aside from this, concertgoers will also be helping raise funds for the Northern Marianas College,” said NMC Foundation president Jerry Tan.

“A Night to Remember with Martin Nievera” promises to be an evening filled with the music that Nievera has become known for–hits that he had written and popularized, as well as his own take on the hits of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and other great singers.

The concert, which is a fundraising event for the Northern Marianas College Foundation, will be held on July 10 at the Hopwood Junior High School Amphitheatre. Gates will open at 5:30pm. The show will start at 7:30pm.

According to organizers, it is a “concert on the grass” and concertgoers are welcome to bring beach towels or mats to sit on.

Tickets are now available at $15 for adults; $12 for children 7 to 12 years old, while children 6 years and below will get in for free. Only a limited number of tickets will be available at the gate on Sunday, for a higher price of $20 each.

Tickets are still on sale at Pacific Trading Co., Saipan Tribune, Western Union, IT&E, all Joeten stores, all Shirley’s Coffee Shop locations, Jollibee, and selected Mobil gas stations.

Since the Hopwood Amphitheatre is expected to host a large audience, concert organizers said security will be tight at the venue and bags will be inspected upon entry to ensure the safety of concertgoers. No video cameras, outside food or drinks will be allowed. A choice of food and beverages will be sold inside the concert premises.
